Project Description

A den had been added to this house many years ago by another contractor. The traffic pattern was never addressed at that time and the kitchen always felt confining. The objective was to open the kitchen to the den by removing a wall and adding a eating bar. New Cherry cabinets with Corian counters were installed. The kitchen was reconfigured to provide a larger work aisle. This is an example of a variation of an L-shaped kitchen with an island.

The client’s biggest worry was losing cabinet space. To remedy this concern, a pantry unit was added and the refrigerator was relocated. The island was designed with base cabinets on one side and wall units build on a 4” toe kick on the back. Many of the cabinets have roll-out shelves and there is a wastebasket unit for trash and recycling. Hardwood floors completed the job. Click Images to Enlarge
