Project Description
The exterior project entailed building a screen porch on the footprint of the existing deck because of a flood plain restriction. The client wanted to extend their interior living space to the exterior. New patio doors swung out and porcelain tile was installed on the floor. Meanwhile, the front entry had never had a covering. We built a simple porch roof with columns to provide shelter and to “finish” the look for a better curbside appearance. The interior kitchen remodel began by relocating an interior wall to enlarge the area. The wall had been built on a diagonal along with the island. By “swinging the wall” back 45 degrees we were able to open up the kitchen. We used a custom woodworking to create a cabinet over the refrigerator to match the existing kitchen cabinets. This cabinet is 30” deep (semi-custom refrigerator cabinets are normally 24” deep). We constructed a custom island in a maple to contrast with the cherry cabinets. The Corian counters were removed and granite was installed along with a tile backsplash to give this not so old kitchen a more updated look. Click Images to Enlarge
